About Us
For the Black girls who refuse to dim their light. Bubbly Black Girl™ was born from a simple belief: Black women deserve the freedom to be joyful out loud. To be warm, optimistic, expressive, ambitious, soft, playful, excited, and completely ourselves without feeling the need to shrink, harden, or make their light more digestible for the world around us.
The idea began with my In Defense of the Bubbly Black Girls (and women) Substack , a love letter to the Black women whose brightness is sometimes misunderstood, underestimated, or treated as something that needs to be toned down. My life has taught me that the opposite is true. There is resistance in protecting your joy. and there is something beautiful about choosing to remain bubbly in a world that may give you every reason not to. Bubbly Black Girl™ turns that feeling into something you can wear. We create pieces that celebrate Black girlhood and Black womanhood in all of its beautiful contradictions: bold and soft, intelligent and playful, ambitious and carefree, polished and a little unserious.
Because the world will attempt to convince you that your light is something you have to apologize for, and we're here declaring the opposite.
